The City of Minnetonka is currently developing a Community Forest Management Plan (CFMP) to evaluate the status and health of trees in Minnetonka. The plan will establish goals and strategies for protecting and enhancing the city’s trees in wooded areas and in mowed and maintained areas of parks and other public lands. This plan will help:

  • Conserve and enhance the environmental, social, and economic benefits associated with trees
  • Identify and prioritize the needs and challenges of managing a community forest
  • Allocate resources and funding for community forestry activities
  • Advance research, monitoring, and evaluation

The survey is now closed. City staff are currently working on draft goals and strategies that will lead to a healthy and more resilient community forest. The draft plan will be shared with the public and members of the Park Board and Sustainabiltiy Commission for input and feedback, likely in May. A final plan will be presented to the City Council for adoption, anticipated in June of 2024.
