Follow-up maintenance at Ford Park

Recent work included:

• Treating and cutting remaining buckthorn throughout the park
• Removing burdock and picking up trash
• Clearing fallen trees near trails and moving debris into natural areas

Project progress:

• Native seed that was spread is coming in strong, helping stabilize soil and naturally limit buckthorn regrowth
• Newly planted trees from spring 2024 are establishing well (about 50% survival, which is expected)
• Natural oak regeneration has been very successful

What’s next:

• Additional buckthorn treatment is planned for this fall
• Ongoing monitoring of tree and plant establishment

Overall, the site is in great condition. Continued maintenance will help establish a healthy, resilient forest that will benefit the community for decades to come.
