Solar panels will be installed on the roof of Ice Arena B beginning July 28. With cooperative weather, the installation should take no more than two weeks to complete.

As part of the city's Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, the city will invest in facility improvements that reduce energy consumption. This project will harness solar power to reduce energy usage at Ice Arena B. The installed panels are expected to provide approximately $9,000 in energy savings yearly, or about $268,000 over its projected 30-year lifespan.

This project is funded in part through Minnesota Grant 011- Solar on Public Buildings, with a matching funds from the city of Minnetonka.
