Bloomberg Philanthropies has selected the City of Minnetonka to participate in the 2026-27 Youth Climate Action Fund cohort, which mobilizes young people ages 15 to 24 to develop and implement climate action solutions in their communities.
Minnetonka has been awarded a $50,000 grant from Bloomberg, which will be redistributed as microgrants of up to $5000 to youth-led climate action projects. Projects must be supported by an eligible organization but designated and led by at least two young people. Project funds will be distributed to the organization supporting the youth-led project.
Organizations eligible to apply for the microgrant include:
Youth-led organizations, including youth clubs or groups (Examples include environmental or sustainability clubs)
Youth-serving organizations, or adult-led organizations that support young people (Examples include Big Brothers, Big Sisters, The YMCA, Scouting America, Girl Scouts)
Sponsor organizations, including schools, educational institutions, museums, community groups and faith organizations.
Eligible organizations must also:
Must be legally registered entities
Must be recognized as a non-profit or charitable organization under local law
Must have a bank account in the organization's name
May be located inside or outside of Minnetonka, but must support a project that benefits the Minnetonka community and is led by young adults living or attending school in Minnetonka
