Consultation has concluded

Central Fire Station is part of Minnetonka's newly constructed public safety facility. It is one of five fire stations serving the community. It is the headquarters for Minnetonka's Fire Department and will also house fire apparatus and personnel who will respond to emergencies across the city.

The new fire station also includes a dormintory for firefighters, training facilities and space for an emergency operations center. The building replaces the former Central Fire Station which was renovated as part of the Minnetonka Police Department construction project.

Minnetonka's first fire truck finds a new home

Minnetonka's Old #1

Minnetonka's first fire truck was also the first apparatus moved into the city's new Central Fire Station. Firefighters pushed the 1950s Mack fire truck into the lobby of the new station in time for the department's annual fall open house.

The fire truck was actually purchased by Minnetonka Township before the community created its own fire department in 1959. The truck was housed at the Hopkins Fire Department and staffed by its firefighters who would respond to calls in Minnetonka.  The truck served the department for many years and was technically available for calls in the 1990s as a reserve pumper before it was retired.
