Glen Lake Park is located in a vibrant and active area of the city. The park is situated along Excelsior Boulevard and Glenview Drive and is home to a number of long-standing community assets including legacy baseball and softball fields, a skate park, yearly Glen Lake Optimist's Christmas tree sale, and a highly used play area. The park also contains the Glen Lake Activity Center, which was a former fire station that has been used over recent years as a flexible community space.

In 2024, the city council adopted a Community Facilities Study. This study looked closely at the long-term viability of various recreational buildings in the city and ultimately recommended the removal of the Glen Lake Activity Center due to its age and outdated functionality. In 2023, the city council reviewed the Skatepark Feasibility Study which identified Glen Lake Park as the city's best location for an updated, modern skate park. Thanks to that study, the city will be receiving grant money from the state of Minnesota to design and construct a new skate park to encourage this growing alternative recreational outdoor activity that benefits youth and adults alike. The 2022 Parks, Open Space and Trails Plan identified the need for a new skate park in the city.

The city will be creating a park master plan to identify community interests in the evolution of Glen Lake Park, the enhancement of the current park features such as the ballfields and playgrounds and providing an updated skatepark. This master plan will identify potential updates to the park to ensure this vibrant part of the city remains welcoming and invites residents to gather and recreate in our city public spaces.
