The City of Minnetonka is preparing for the 2026 Overlay Project, which includes improvements on Williston Road, Oakland Road, Minnetonka Drive, Woodland Road and the public works parking lot.

The project includes pavement improvements, trail replacement, damaged curb and gutter replacement, utility casting replacement, and drainage improvements.

Traffic Impacts

During construction, there will be traffic control in the area, which may include periods of lane shifts, flagging, closures and detours. Residential and business access will be maintained. Please follow construction signs, watch for traffic pattern changes and drive carefully through construction areas.

Will I be assessed?

No. The city does not specifically assess for these improvements. These types of improvements are primarily funded through the city's street and utility funds.

Project schedule

Construction will start this summer and is expected to last approximately 4-6 weeks in each location. Detailed information regarding construction phases and schedule updates will be communicated via the project website and email/text updates. Please subscribe for updates to stay informed.

    Crews completed trail paving and restoration along Oakland Road last week.

    Beginning Monday, July 27, crews will mill the roadway. This is expected to last two days. Following milling, crews will adjust manholes.

    Please drive carefully and be aware of changing traffic control.

    Work continues on Oakland Road.

    • Crews removed and replaced damaged curb and gutter, as well as added pedestrian ramps
    • Crews completed trail removal
    • During the week of July 20, crews will focus on regrading and paving the trail.
    • Restoration behind the trail and curbs will occur next week.

    • Miscellaneous curb and gutter removal and replacement
    • Removal of trail, and trail replacement
    • Milling and overlay of the roadway.

    Oakland road will remain open to traffic for the duration of the project. Please slow down, and be cautious of workers and alert of traffic control changes.
