Cargill plans to demolish the existing research and development building at 2301 Crosby Road. After demolition, the site will be graded and seeded to prevent erosion. No redevelopment plans have been submitted at this time.

    The project is 65% complete. Current efforts focus on: (1) separating and hauling materials from the site; and (2) removing the foundation and footings. The anticipated completion date remains July 3rd.

    • No material crushing or grinding will be performed on site.

    • Work is expected to take place from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
    • No material crushing or grinding will be performed on site.
    • All trucks will access the site using the existing driveway on McGinty Road West.

    The demolition permit is still pending approval.

    The property contains wetlands and 100-year floodplain areas, as well as high-priority and significant trees. The city’s natural resources ordinances provide a level of protection to each of these areas:

    • The wetland ordinance establishes minimum wetland buffers and regulates the location of structures, parking areas, and driveways relative to wetlands.
    • The floodplain ordinance regulates the location and minimum vertical separation between the 100-year floodplain and structures, parking areas, and driveways.
    • The tree protection ordinance limits tree removal and impact to no more than 35 percent of high-priority trees and 50 percent of significant trees.
