On June 11, the project began with work primarily confined to the south side of Cedar Lake Road.

This week's progress:

• Traffic control was installed and traffic was shifted north on Cedar Lake Road
• Curb and sidewalk removals began
• Tree removals were completed on the south side of Cedar Lake Road

• Removal of curb and sidewalk will continue

The city is preparing for street improvements along Cedar Lake Road from Hopkins Crossroad (County 73) to Hwy 169. The project includes improvements to pavement, curb, sidewalks pedestrian ramps, utility castings, traffic signals, signs and pavement markings.

Project schedule

Construction will begin soon, and is expected to last from early June to late August.

No, property owners are not assessed. These projects are funded through the city's Street Improvement Fund.

Adjacent MnDOT project

MnDOT is completing a signal and pavement replacement project this summer at Cedar Lake Road and Hwy 169 adjacent to the city's project. This MnDOT project is not a part of the Cedar Lake Road Improvement project, but will impact drivers in the area. See MnDOT's project page for updates and more information.

Construction on Cedar Lake Road and Jordan Avenue South begins the week of June 15.This MnDOT project is not part of the Cedar Lake Road Improvements project, but will impact drivers in the area.

During construction, both lanes of Cedar Lake Road over the Hwy 169 Bridge will be reduced to one lane. Temporary four-way stop signs will be installed at the intersections of Cedar Lake Road and both legs of Jordan Avenue South for the entirety of the project.

With the closure of Jordan Avenue South, both on and off ramps to Cedar Lake Road from northbound 169 will be closed. Detour signs will be posted for motorists. View the detour from northbound Hwy 169 to Cedar Lake Rd. and the detour from Cedar Lake Rd. to northbound Hwy 169.

Additionally, the east leg of Jordan Avenue South in St Louis Park from Hwy 169 will be closed to Cedar Lake Road for about a month.

MnDOT is completing a signal replacement project this spring/summer adjacent to the City of Minnetonka’s Cedar Lake Road Improvement Project. See MnDOT’s project page for updates and project information.

Additionally, CenterPoint Energy will be completing gas main replacement work in the area in the month of May. Please drive carefully and anticipate reduced lanes on Cedar Lake Road, temporary signals and traffic control, and increased construction activity.

Construction on the city's Cedar Lake Road Project is expected to begin early this summer.

Minnetonka City Council will consider awarding contracts for the Cedar Lake Road and Ridgedale Drive projects at its April 27 meeting. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located at 14600 Minnetonka Blvd.

Although these projects are in different areas of the city, they will be completed under one contract, as the work is similar in both locations

City Council will be asked to authorize projects located at Ridgedale Drive and Cedar Lake Road, during its March 23 meeting. Although these projects are in different areas of the city, they will be bided as a single project.

Council will consider pavement improvements and signal replacement as part of this project.

The meeting will be held on Monday, March 23 at 6 p.m. in the second floor Council Chambers at 14600 Minnetonka Blvd.

City Council will be asked to approve a resolution that would authorize work on Cedar Lake Road and Ridgedale Drive in 2026.The resolution includes the feasibility report, authorization of plans and specifications and authorizes the acquisition of easements in the project areas.

Although these projects are in different neighborhoods of the city, the scope of work is similar. These projects will be bid as a single contract.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at 14600 Minnetonka Blvd in the second-floor Council Chambers.

The engineering division will host an open house regarding the Cedar Lake Road improvements project on Thursday, Aug. 14 at 5 p.m. at the Minnetonka Community Center.
