The City of Minnetonka is preparing design work for the Libb’s Lake Bridge Replacement Project located over the channel between Libb’s Lake and Gray’s Bay.
This bridge was originally constructed in 1969 and is reaching the end of its service life. This project includes the replacement of the bridge, roadway and associated utilities.
Preliminary design has begun for the bridge replacement. Completion of the design is planned for the end of 2026, at which time the City of Minnetonka will apply for state funding.
Will I be assessed for this project?
No. The City of Minnetonka does not assess for these improvements. The project will be funded through the city’s Street Improvement Fund and/or potential state grant funding.

The city is seeking resident feedback through a focus group to help shape the design and community identity of the future Libbs Lake bridge. The focus group will serve in an advisory role to the design team, to explore and shape design features such as railings, architectural details, and colors, along with features visible to people passing under the bridge.
The focus group is limited to approximately 10 people, and will meet twice in-person at the Community Center. The first meeting is planned for Aug. 26.
Interested residents must request to be considered by Aug. 14. Send a message to engineering@minnetonkamn.gov for consideration.

The resolution will also ask to form a bridge aesthetics focus group to help determine the future bridge's appearance. Council meetings are held at 6 p.m. located at 14600 Minnetonka Blvd in the second-floor Council Chambers.
