Minnetonka Budget

The city council adopted the 2024-28 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) at its Sept. 18 meeting (video). The CIP reflects council direction and addresses the capital priorities of the city prudently and cost-effectively.

The city council set the 2024 preliminary city levy at its Sept. 18 meeting (video). The city council approved increasing the 2024 preliminary city levy by 5.5 percent, with an additional 2.25 percent dedicated to implementing the public safety master plan, for a total city levy increase of 7.75 percent.

Every year auditors provide city council with a review of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and their findings. Maintaining excellent financial and operational strength is key to allow the city to provide value for the full range of services for residents and businesses, and helps the city maintain its Aaa credit rating. Audit firm BerganKVD issued an unmodified opinion on the city’s 2022 financial statement audit with no audit findings.

The Minnetonka City Council adopted the 2023 budget and set the levies to be collected at its Dec. 5, 2022, meeting. These levies are the tax levy, the Minnetonka Economic Development Authority special benefit tax levy, and the Bassett Creek Watershed Management Tax District tax levy.
